Outback SA Bash with Teague Tours
From the Camel Cup to the Outback SA Bash with Teague Tours!
Enjoy an amazing and unique, personalised small-group tour to the Flinders Ranges, Marree and Outback SA back through the Clare Valley for what was the “Marree Camel Cup 2021” over a 7 day and 6 night amazing tour.
Day 1: Departing Adelaide on the morning we will venture to our first night’s stay at Wilpena Pound in the heart of the Flinders Ranges. We travel via the townships of Jamestown, Orroroo, Cradock and Hawker. This day’s travel adds to the majestic outback tour that is in front of us over the next 7 days. A pub lunch at Orroroo is a great stop along the way. (L,D)
Day 2: Absorbing a morning’s walk in/around Wilpena Pound, breakfasting, then on the road through the middle of the Flinders Ranges traversing east-west via Brachina Gorge and the spectacular Razorback Lookout which finds us in and ancient and stunning world. A special lunch spot will have us savouring some incredible outback bbqing before venturing onto this evening’s destination, Marree at the junction of the Birdsville and Oodnadatta Tracks. The famous Marree Hotel has us as its patrons for the next two nights, accommodated in the wonderful cabins located onsite. (B, L, D)
Day 3: While we’re up this way, we’ve got to partake in an early morning 2 ¼ hour flight over the “Marree Man” and Lake Eyre (North & South). These lakes offer sensational viewings with water in them or dry…I can’t wait to revisit to see what they offer this time around. The pinks and blues of a dry salt lake are amazing. Let’s see what’s on offer. “MARREE CAMEL CUP DAY 2021”…the Main Event!!! A wonderful day is in store for us at the Cup. A bucket list event if ever there was one!!! Let’s absorb the welcome of the locals as they introduce us to this incredible outback event. I can feel a real shindig evolving!!! An a brilliant covers band, “Chunky Custard”, will rock the pubs tonight!!!(B)
Day 4: One imagines a slow start to the day might be on the cards!!! On our return trip we’ll pop in for a bakery lunch from a very special town being rebuilt by grey nomads, the town of Farina. Our destination this evening is the “Great Northern Lodge”, Quorn but not before calling in to view the “Jeff Morgan Gallery” at Hawker…a must see. (B, L, D)
Day 5: After a big cooked breakfast we’ll continue our venture south through the township of Melrose, the oldest town in the Flinder Ranges. Our brilliant accommodation for this evening, and the following night, is “Bungaree Station” at North Clare. Two nights at the one spot, a spot too good not to add an extra day to our tour to revel in the Clare Valley. A special dinner at Bungaree awaits us this evening. (B, L, D)
Day 6: The Clare Valley awaits our participation today. Maybe a few wineries, maybe a Bungaree Station tour…but definitely a big Bungaree self-catered cook-up this evening!!! Fun galore!!! (B, L, D)
Day 7: We meander back to Adelaide on our last day of this tour but not before visiting “Martindale Hall” and lunch at the quaint “Magpie & Stump Hotel” both based in Mintarto, Clare Valley. (B, L)
I’m excited with what’s on offer, very excited!!! When I first put this forward to you in an email on 23rd April 2020 I mentioned that it would be 6 days/5 nights but I’ve now added that extra night at “Bungaree Station”, which I really believe is seriously worthwhile. I’ve also included in the cost the 2 ¼ hour flight while at Marree…I’ve negotiated the price down from previous tours from $550 to $500. Happy to refund from the overall price if you decide not to participate in that event…but you’d need a good excuse…it’s awesome!!!
I’ve capped the numbers to 12 guests as accommodation is nigh impossible to arrange for such a bespoke tour…I’m excited…and what a group!!!
Happy travels
